One of my favorite scenic overlooks on Oʻahu is the Makapuʻu Lookout. Along the undeveloped Kaʻiwi Shoreline, a stunning view can be held of the Makapuʻu and Waimānalo beaches. Mānana & Kāohikaipu (Rabbit & Turtle) Islands are visible in the foreground where humpback whales swim and breach in the winter months. At night, stars stand out vibrantly in the dark sky, far from the light pollution of town. You won’t be alone while stargazing though, for the locals come out as the sun goes down…
